1. Guidelines for Preaching, Teaching, and Pastoral Care Practicums
Students enrolled in homiletics, teaching, or pastoral care courses are expected to participate in practicums designed to develop applied ministry skills.
Practicum objectives include clear communication of biblical truth, effective lesson structuring, pastoral sensitivity, and integration of theological principles into practical ministry settings.
Students will receive mentorship and feedback from faculty and ministry supervisors, focusing on both strengths and areas for growth.
All ministry activities must reflect biblical ethics, professionalism, and respect for congregants’ confidentiality and spiritual wellbeing.
2. Templates for Sermon Preparation, Lesson Planning, or Counseling Documentation
The seminary provides standardized templates to guide students in sermon development and Bible study lesson planning.
Templates are intended to assist students in structuring content, referencing Scripture accurately, and ensuring doctrinal clarity.
Students are required to submit completed templates for faculty review where applicable, adhering to deadlines and formatting standards.
Templates may be adapted for specific ministry contexts but must maintain alignment with seminary academic and ethical standards.
3. Ministry Placement Procedures and Field Education Expectations
Field education experiences or ministry placements must be approved by the seminary prior to commencement.
Students are responsible for securing placement with a qualified church or ministry site and for coordinating schedules, supervision, and evaluation with seminary faculty.
Expectations include consistent attendance, active participation, submission of reflective reports, and demonstration of learned competencies. Reflective reports may be required for preaching practicum (including how you applied exegesis and engaged the congregation), field ministry (evaluating pastoral care, teaching, or counseling encounters), and reflections on spiritual discipline (such as prayer, fasting, or study and its effect on personal growth).
Students must maintain professional conduct, uphold confidentiality, and adhere to the policies and expectations of the hosting ministry.
Faculty supervisors will provide assessment and feedback, which will contribute to course grades or practical ministry evaluations.
