Upcoming Mission Trip Preparations

Ministry Update

Preparations for our two upcoming mission trips are well underway, and the anticipation is in the air! With forty one days out from our departure to Paris, we have been busy familiarizing ourselves with the devotional booklet we will be using as well as catching up on the Olympic Trials currently airing on most sports networks. Our last area of business regarding preparation for this trip will take place on July 12-14 at our sending church's annual mission conference. They plan to use it as a send off for the trip, so keep us in your prayers as things unfold in the coming weeks.

We have also started the fundraising process for our churches short term Ugandan mission trip tentatively scheduled for January 2025. This previous Saturday we had the opportunity to partake in a worship at the gazebo event at the Fish right down the road from the church. It was coupled with a fundraiser bake sale which went very well!

With Vacation Bible School being this week, the kids also had a girls against boys competition to see who could bring in the most change to support the trip (spoiler alert, the boys won!). We had around forty kids show up all three days of the program, and the entire week they were able to learn about Uganda and the mission we will be doing while we are there. They particularly enjoyed learning about the Ugandan animals we may see, but more importantly, we were able to show them how even ordinary people can be missionaries and that it doesn't always mean going overseas.

Life/Health Update

Hanna has another procedure scheduled for July 10th as a result of the failed one they had done about a month ago. She has been on two medications to help counter the problem since, so pray that this procedure goes well so she won't have to schedule any more for the foreseeable future. She has also been experiencing some side effects from the elimination diet they had tried to do the end of last year, so pray they can get that sorted out so she can  get back to feeling normal again.

Writing Update

War of the Rising Phoenix, the second installment in Hanna's upcoming Christian fiction trilogy, is well underway. She is three chapters away from completing the third draft and is hoping to have it sent to the editor by the end of the summer. She was able to release the cover for her second book this month which we will include in the pictures below, and is gearing up for a synopsis and trailer release in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned!

If you haven't read the first one yet, and feel you'd like to, you can find it on our website or on amazon here: https://a.co/d/9fkeBqF

On the Field

This month is a special month for ministry in Australia as the regional conference in Cairns, Queensland begins of the 17th of June. It is a great time of fellowship, worship, and rejuvenation for many of the missionaries in the South Pacific region, and though we wish we could be there with them, we continue to pray  from afar as they dedicate themselves to the work the Lord has so heavily placed on our hearts to do. Aside from that, our regional director was unable to attend due to a surgery his wife had to have as a result of the cancer she's been battling for a year. Please keep them in your prayers as they weather the difficulties that come with treatment and recovery.

Russ Matthews of Reel Dialogue and City Bible Forum who we mentioned last month in regards to his recently published book also had a write up in this month's message magazine. Him and his wife Cathy are very involved in the film ministry and you can read more about that in the article here: https://abwe.org/blog/doing-reel-evangelism/

Picture #2: VBS 2024 and Worship at the Gazebo (Yes, that's a raccoon in the first picture! We had a real life animal rescue situation and, good news, the raccoon is with a professional and doing well!)
