Heresy 101: Dual Covenant Theology

Dual Covenant Theology

Dual Covenant Theology is the belief that Jews can still be saved without Jesus.

Dual Covenant Theology promotes the idea that the Jewish people have their own path to Salvation which does not include Jesus.

I have heard some say Christians should not even witness to those of Jewish descent because they already have Salvation just because they are Jewish, and this was alarming to me.

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus states, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..."

All means all...He does not teach to take the gospel to all the Gentile nations, but all nations, because without Christ Jesus, there is no Salvation.

Proponents of dual covenant theology often misinterpret the meaning of Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." wrongly believing that this is proof-text for dual covenant theology, when in fact it is simply stating that God first revealed His plan of Salvation through the Messiah to the Jews, and now to the Gentiles.

The correct understanding of this verse is revealed in the following verse, "For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Jesus Himself has made this clear, not just in the Great Commission, but throughout scripture, as in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

No one means just what it says...no one.

Another scripture to keep in mind

Romans 10:14-17 "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."

The restoration of the Jewish people is in scripture. However, it is through Christ Jesus.

I pray for our Jewish brothers and sisters; Israel also needs our support. Anti-semitism is rising worldwide, and Israel's enemies are not going away.

Never withhold the gospel from our Jewish brothers and sisters because there is no greater blessing than eternal life through the Messiah, Christ Jesus.
