Willow Creek

Fresh from the blood-soaked battlefields of the Civil War, Emmit Levi Foster yearns for the quiet solace of his family ranch. But his homecoming is a bitter betrayal. His father, a reckless gambler and town drunk, has squandered their legacy, leaving Emmit to confront a ruthless new owner Tom Ward—an ex-Omaha Claim Club member with a bounty on his head.

Trapped between the specter of his past and the uncertain future, Emmit must fight to reclaim his home. With the same courage that carried him through the war, he faces a new kind of enemy—one as dangerous and relentless as any battlefield foe.

Can a man who survived the hell of war conquer the demons of his own family and the greed of a ruthless adversary to salvage a future on the land he loves?

I've read this book twice already while I was waiting for book 2 (Rise of the State) to be released. It is a well written, gripping and suspenseful novel, I simply could not put it down. Book 2 was the same way, I was reading until early morning hours, it draws you deeper into the story line and hooks you, just like book 1. Can't wait to read the third book in the series! ~ Miss Snow
