Over the last couple of weeks, I have been talking about adding a membership section to my website. My goal was for a few things to happen.
First, I wanted a way to reward readers who have been following me, buying my books, and have been members of my Author Facebook page for years. With a membership on my website, I could keep in touch, give offers, freebies, and more.
Secondly, I wanted to create an area of my website to help authors, artists, and musicians who would help each other.
Artists helping each other has been a dream of mine for quite some time. In 2019 I opened a literary cafe, which I meant to be a meeting ground for artists of all types. It was a great place to meet, share and have great coffee I would get from a local roaster. With all the restrictions of COVID, it closed, and I was unable to reopen.
I don't believe online or virtual will ever replace human interactions. However, we need to do something here and now to help the arts; this is where my idea of creating a place where artists and consumers could meet and help each other in our endeavors.
To help identify other members, I have created badges for our profiles on my website. Some members will have multiple badges, some only one, but we all can help each other.
There is the Author badge for those who write, whether published or not. We also have the Artist badge for artists and illustrators. Finally, the Bookworm for the bibliophiles.
I hope that we can get people to join, be involved, and create a small community of creators to help each other out.
Future badges will come, and if you have a suggestion, such as Editor badge, publicist, etc., please let me know, and I will add them!
