Over the years, I have authored many different books. My first book instructed on saving money on your electrical and heating costs. After that, I wrote a book about Heaven and Hell in the bible and the various usage of words that may confuse readers. One example is that Tartarus, Gahanna, Sheol, Torment, and in some cases, even Abraham's Bosom, are all referred to as "hell," yet all are distinct and different.
In 2008 I began writing science fiction. I wrote Pandemic Dawn, which later became a novel series. I currently have four novels in the series and am working on outlining a fifth.
In the middle of writing those four books, I wrote the House of Faith Church Ministers Manual, a short book about the ordinances in the Christian church, with examples of how to perform the services and which scriptures apply. I include variations to help Christian Ministers who may not have a lot of experience in these matters.
I recently sold my business so I could have more time for the church where I pastor and the Iosco Ministerial Association, where I serve as vice-president.
Included in my newfound time is time to work on my books, which brings me to this post today.
Over my last 20 or so years of serving as a minister, I have met many people worldwide. I would have never met these people if it weren't for pastoring in churches or owning a business in a tourist town.
Over the years, I have had conversations with many people about their faith and beliefs, and I often meet people struggling with spiritual growth. I encourage them to keep pressing on; however, some believe there is no further to go in their walk.
I find that sad for a few different reasons. Firstly, though we strive to be like Him, we will not achieve that until He calls us home.
Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
There is always room to grow and an opportunity to get closer to our Lord. So we must "press on" and keep running the race toward the goal.
Secondly,
I think it is sad when people dwell in the land of milk when the Lord has so much more for them. So many miss out on the blessings and benefits of the kingdom because they never graduate to service but remain a student of elementary; this isn't anything new. We see the scriptures address this many times in the New Testament.
We can hear the frustrations in 1 Corinthians 3:2 "I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able"
Or in Hebrews 5:12-13 "For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant."
The frustration to teachers and preachers of the Word when the students never grow spiritually is real. However, there are many reasons one doesn't grow and many ways to overcome them.
So I have felt drawn to write another book about Spiritual Growth. It will be entitled, Drowning in Milk, a beginner's guide to Spiritual Growth.
I am beginning the research and outline now and hope to have it released before the end of the year.
But for now, I focus on finishing my latest science fiction novel, which only has a few chapters left, Losing Dani Strumm.
I look forward to sharing more about the upcoming book, Drowning in Milk, and writing some of the other books of faith I have in mind over the coming years.
